The second part of The Life Reports, and more interesting as Brooks does some synthesizing into general life lessons:
- Divide your life into chapters
- Beware rumination (this one I particularly liked)
- You can’t control other people
- Lean toward risk
- Measure people by their growth rate, not by their talents
- Be aware of the generational bias
- Work within institutions or crafts, not outside them
- People get better at the art of living
While like all lists, these tend towards generalization, nevertheless not a bad synthesis of some good general approaches to life.
