5 Things Every Presenter Should Know About People, Animated | Brain Pickings

Not a typical post for this blog but as someone who likes presentations, and likes this kind of whiteboard graphics, thought would post. The 5 things are:

  1. People learn best in 20-minute chunks
  2. Multiple sensory channels compete (I would argue for some nuance here, in that presenters should ensure that they are complementary and consistent)
  3. What you say is only one part of your presentation (e.g., body language and ‘paralinguistics’ are equally important)
  4. If you want people to act, you have to call them to action
  5. People imitate your emotions and feel your feelings
