Experimental Drug Access and Darcy Doherty

One of my readers sent me this link to CBC’s The Current segment on access to experimental drugs, following the very public and ultimately unsuccessful campaign by Darcy Doherty’s family for access (see earlier posts herehere and here). Good panel discussion with Darcy’s widow, Rebecca Cumming, and a number of doctors, Bert Kelly, a colleague of Dr. Suresh Kattakar (the British Columbia doctor who prescribed non-approved medicine – see here) and Professor Arthur Schafer. Worth listening to, and his wife was particularly eloquent on the very human side, as was Arthur Schafer on the risks of experimental drugs, and the need for us to face our own mortality. Worth listening to, about 27 minutes.
