Language: Relationships – The Secret’s In The Pronouns : NPR

Some interesting results on language and relationships. In essence, our language subtly shifts when we are around people that we have a genuine interest in, and that our use of “I” reflects the power dynamics: those below use “I”, those above do not.

Of course, the unstated question, at least in this article, can one change the power dynamics somewhat by changing how and when we use “I”?
